| Initially, the competing clubs were from the Belfast Area but over the years, clubs in the surrounding area competed for the Holt Shield. There will be 36 clubs competing 2012. |

The first winners of the trophy was Clandeboye in 1963 and the most recent in 2011
was Shandon Park G.C. (pictured below).
