The Holt Shield was founded in 1963 at a meeting in
Belvoir Park G.C. Belfast, N.Ireland. |

| Initially, the competing clubs were from the Belfast Area but over the years, clubs in the surrounding area competed for the Holt Shield. There will be 38 clubs competing 2010. |

The first winners of the trophy was Clandeboye in 1963 and the most recent in 2009
was Ballyclare G.C. (pictured below). The Club has won the trophy for the first time.
